Website Design and SEO services
See how my website design and SEO services transformed Cottage Farms' visibility and impact with a powerful new website that now speaks to their ideal buyers.
Summary of Website Design and SEO services work
Background
Cottage Farms is one of the UK’s leading fruit and fresh produce packers, based in Kent. With a long-standing relationship with Tesco and a reputation for delivering over 4.5 million boxes of fruit a year, they serve some of the biggest names in retail, wholesale, and food processing. Their team maintains a remarkable 99.98% service delivery rate, with 100% of production powered by solar energy in summer.
It became clear to me, quite quickly, that Cottage Farms would need help with website design and seo services, marketing strategy, positioning and brand communication. Despite their scale, impact, and industry relationships, their previous website didn’t reflect the strength of the business, the calibre of clients they served, or the level of service they could offer. It lacked clarity around their value to buyers, had no clear target audience or messaging, and was outdated both in content and functionality. It wasn’t SEO-optimised, wasn’t easy to navigate, and did little to support their credibility.
That’s partly because the team at Cottage Farms have always prioritised what matters most: delivering quality, optimising yield for their clients, reducing food waste, and running the business with passion and integrity, not shouting about what they do.
That’s where I come in 🙂
Process
In 2024, I started working with Chris, the Managing Director, to define a stronger marketing strategy and communication approach. We took a step back to reassess how the business was positioned and how it could better speak to its ideal audience, specially produce buyers looking for fruit packing partners they can rely on.
This included me coordinating:
- A full analysis of the business, market, and competitors
- A site visit and research session with internal team members
- Collaborative work with a brand positioning specialist to refine their differentiation
- New content written by a copywriter who translated strategy into language
- Work with a trusted website design collaborator to bring it all to life
- SEO services
Through these website design and development services, we moved Cottage Farms from a basic one-page site to a fully redesigned 11-page website. This small business website design now boasted clear messaging, improved UX, modern SEO structure, and language tailored to buyers (including industry-specific terms like “topfruit” and “fresh produce”).
Results
As a marketing consultant for small businesses, I believe website optimisation and brand communication is KEY and must be carefully considered before money is invested into other marketing strategies.
As a result of my focusing my attention on web design and marketing communication, a new website was created that gives buyers and decision-makers a much clearer picture of what Cottage Farms can offer and why they’re trusted by major clients like Tesco. It now:
- Speaks directly to their prime target market: fresh produce buyers who need fruit packing solutions
- Uses industry language (e.g. “topfruit”) and trade association symbols that build credibility
- Highlights sustainability, service levels, and range of services
- Is structured for SEO and now ranks on page 1 of Google for key search terms
- Presents the business as capable, confident, and future-focused
What had been an underpowered one-page presence is now a site that matches the professionalism, values, and scale of the business behind it.
Now that his website and SEO have been optimised, Chris and I are exploring how to drive growth for his small business through other marketing services.
